Walking and Cycling

Little Acre is ideally located for walkers and cyclists.      
We are just a few hundred yards from the Herefordshire Trail (see location map) and on the doorstep of the Woolhope Dome cycling trail and the Ledbury Cider Cycling Trail

The Malvern Hills are just a few miles away.  From the ridge on a clear day you can see West towards the Black Mountains and East across the Vale of Evesham.

Geocaching

There are two caches in Much Marcle and many more in the surrounding area.  If you have never tried Geocaching all you need is a hand held GPS or smartphone  Look up Geocaching.com for details of how to get started but beware it can become addictive.

Adventure

There are all sorts of adventurous activities close by.  

Test your driving skills to the maximum at the Land Rover Experience Eastnor Castle.
Half day, full day, advanced and night driving adventures available.

Fly a falcon or a hawk on a day course at the International Centre for Birds of Prey.  

Swing through the trees and shoot down a zip wire at Go Ape.

Race to your hearts contents in a go-kart.

Float your boat and hire a canoe at Mordiford or Symonds Yat where you can also try clay pigeon shooting.

Try something very different and go mountain boarding.

Take a balloon flight and enjoy the Herefordshire countryside from the air.

Creative and Craft Courses

The Patchwork Basket in Newent offers a wonderful range of fabrics and projects for both advanced stitchers and beginners.  Day classes cover a wide range of subjects. Book the October class now and get your Christmas gifts organised!

Choose from a wide variety of crafts available through Creative Breaks.  Be inspired to try stained glass work, blacksmithing, pottery, painting or any of the varied courses on offer.

Create you own willow sculpture for your garden, build wattle hurdles, try your hand at wood carving or even learn the ancient art of hedge laying with Dave Jackson of Wild Wood Crafts.

Castles and Houses

For lovers of historic houses and castles, Herefordshire is heaven.

Don’t miss Hellens Manor - the haunted, historic house in Much Marcle and visit Eastnor Castle - just outside Ledbury.   Goodrich Castle close to Ross-on-Wye is just a twenty minute drive away.

The National Trust has several properties in Herefordshire, including Croft Castle and Berrington Hall near Leominster, and the exquisitely beautiful Brockhampton Estate near Bromyard.

Gardens  

The Royal Horticultural Society holds a Spring and an Autumn show each year at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern.

Stocktonbury Gardens  our personal favourite, a truly special place.

Herefordshire has it’s very own Hampton Court a late medieval castle which is a private home set in beautiful gardens and grounds.

Broadfield Court  is not just a garden but also a fine winery and has a tea room serving excellent lunches.

Hergest Croft lovely at all times of the year with a very good tea room and unusual plants for sale.


Theatre

We are within easy driving distance of a number of theatres.

Malvern Theatre in the centre of Great Malvern.

The Courtyard in Hereford which has easy parking and a great cafe.

The Blake Theatre Monmouth.

The Everyman and The Playhouse in Cheltenham.  

The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury.

General

Owl Centre and Small Breeds Farm Park beautiful displays of one of the most extensive owl collections in Europe.  Open 365 days of the year.  Situated in Kington.
